DAY 4 - WEDNESDAY
Gavia & Mortirolo

Bormio - Mortirolo - Gavia - Bormio

Distance: 115km ( 71 miles) / Climbing meters 2900mts

After the Passo dello Stelvio, you will face Passo Mortirolo and Passo di Gavia. Surprisingly, the lower (1852m-6076ft) Passo Mortirolo is actually harder than the ones you have done the last two days. The Passo Mortirolo is considered as the hardest climb in Italy. Some will say that this huge monster is the “Queen climb of the European Alps”. You leave the hotel through the valley and the start of the climb is in Mazzo di Valtelina. The climb will be 12.5km (7.5 miles) long with some 1300 height meters (4265ft) to attack. The legendary Gavia pass belongs to one of the highest paved mountain passes in the Alps. The Gavia has a high summit of 2621 meters (8700ft). The route is very steep and narrow and it takes a lot of effort to conquer the Gavia. The ascent of today's climb to Passo di Gavia is 17.3km (10.75 miles) long and an average percentage of 7.9%

An Active rest

Bormio - Bormio 2000 - Oga - Le Motte - Bormio

Distance: 45 km (30 miles) / Climbing 1.525mt

Today we're going to have some "active" rest. We're gonna recover some energy for the big stages of the next coming days. Starting from Bormio center, we'll face a 10 km climb, with a medium ascent of 7,5%, which will leads us to Bormio 2000mt, that was the arrival of the 18th stage of the Giro 2004: on that day, Damiano Cunego with a stretch on the last kilometer, confirmed his potential, that led him to the final victory of the Maglia Rosa. After a rapid descent back to Bormio, we'll go up again for 4 km to Forte di Oga, an historical important site, from where you can have one of the best views of the entire valley. In the afternoon we're gonna have some well-deserved relax: you can visit the famous Thermae of Bormio, or have a nice massage from one of our therapists then have a wlak through the city.
